Skytop, PA – At
the 2014 Annual Installation of Officers dinner of the Pocono Mountains
Association of REALTORS® on
December 6th, at Skytop Lodge, Carol Demarest, Realtor with Better
Homes and Gardens Real Estate Wilkins & Associates was named Realtor of the Year.
Demarest an award-winning Realtor has been with the Wilkins
organization since the beginning of her career in May of 2003. Since Demarest joined the company, not only
has she been the recipient of the Helping
Hands award, she has consistently been a member of the Million Dollar Club and Top
Ten in Sales. Said Christine A.
Wilkins, General Manager, “Carol’s commitment to the community outweighs any of
the awards that she has won as a Realtor with the company. Her commitment to her business and making
sure that customers and clients are taken care of is just a part of her
generosity. Carol gives back to the
community in so many different ways including helping in food pantries, civic
and church groups, and the sharing of her services with the hundreds of customers
and clients she’s worked with over the past 11 years.”
“Carol is a member of the PMAR Social/Planning Committee,
was a participant when the PMAR Realtors travelled to Harrisburg in support of
Act 76 and the respect she has of her peers has not gone unnoticed.” said
Nicole Murray, Realtor with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Wilkins &
Associates and President of PMAR.
Both Murray and Demarest are Salespersons in the BHG Bushkill
office on Route 209.
Unbeknownst to her, Demarest’s co-workers submitted her name
for consideration for Realtor of the Year.
The Association Board of Directors then reviewed the applicants and
voted on one to be the Realtor of the
Year. The award is given at the
Annual Installation of Officers each year.
Said Carol Demarest about her winning Realtor of the Year,
“I absolutely had no idea it was coming.
I think everyone saw that by the expression on my face.” Demarest, a very soft-spoken person, didn’t
know that her co-workers had submitted her name for consideration. However, Demarest graciously accepted the
award from Nicole Murray, President and Beverly A. Hay, Account Executive with
the PMAR. Demarest will continue her
participation in the various committees while working as a Realtor in the
Bushkill office. Said Thomas R. Wilkins,
CEO, “Everyone was simply beside themselves.
We had no idea that Carol was one of the finalists and once it was
announced, that she was the winner, watching her shed tears of joy simply made
all of us feel so proud of what she’s done for her community, peers and the
Pocono Mountain Real Estate industry.
Carol started her career with us and has grown both professionally and
personally.”
PMAR is a non-profit organization that’s made up of Brokers,
Associate Brokers, and Salespersons with a real estate license. Members then share the listings of each of
the members through the PMAR MLS system which displays the data online with all
its participants. The Association also
is made up of various associate businesses which include mortgage companies,
insurance companies, title companies, home inspection companies, various
political leaders in the community and individuals. In 2012, PMAR bought the Pocono Real Estate
Academy from Barbara Samet.
Samet, then was employed by the Association to run the Real
Estate Academy until her passing earlier this year. The Association is not sure who will be named
as Samet’s successor. The Real Estate
Academy offers courses for persons to receive their real estate license as well
as courses to receive various designations and continuing education.
The Wilkins Company was well represented at the Installation
of Officers dinner and Christmas party.
Christine A. Wilkins, Exec VP/General Manager, was the Master of
Ceremonies; Nicole Murray, Realtor, is President of PMAR; Alex Camaerei,
Realtor received the Scholarship; and Carol Demarest, Realtor was awarded Realtor of the Year. Dennis A. Mooney, V.P./Sales Manager, is also
